About Me

Rebecca L. Soffer, PsyD Is a licensed clinical psychologist specialized in working with children birth to five. She is a graduate of the Wright Institute, an APA accredited school, and recently completed the University of Massachusetts Boston Infant-Parent Mental Health Post Graduate Certification.

Dr. Soffer has worked with Preschool and Kindergarten aged children in various capacities: as Assistant Director of a large day care, as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant in preschool and day care settings, and as a therapist working individually with children and families. Working with children and teachers in the classroom setting has allowed her to accumulate collective knowledge about young children: their temperaments, their needs, and the meaning behind their behaviors. It has also given her the opportunity to observe the adult responses that bring out the best in children, and facilitate their learning and growth.

Years of work as a therapist have taught her a great deal about relationships, particulary the parent-child relationship. She knows how to spot subtle communications among parents and their children, and intervene to help families make the shift out of distressing patterns of interaction to more healthy ones. She also knows how to help parents become more intentional in their parenting and help children build important life skills.

Dr. Soffer has a great passion for and knowledge of different philosophies of early childhood education, such as Montessori and Reggio-Emilia inspired approaches. She is fascinated by how children grow and develop, and shares this passion with her clients. She enjoys reading, writing and spending her free time with her own family and children.
