I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with young children and families. I graduated from the Wright Institute in 2002, and later completed the University of Massachusetts Boston Infant-Parent Mental Health Post Graduate Certification (2010). For a handful of years in between, I lived and worked in northern Italy, an experience that greatly enriched my perspective on human development, the U.S., life, and relationships.
I have worked with Preschool and Kindergarten aged children in various capacities: as Assistant Director of large military daycare, as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant in preschool and daycare settings, and as a therapist working in private practice. Working with children and teachers in the classroom setting has allowed me to accumulate collective knowledge about young children: their temperaments, their needs, and the meaning behind their behaviors. It has also allowed me to observe the adult responses that bring out the best in children and facilitate their learning and growth.
Years of work as a therapist have taught me a great deal about relationships, particularly the parent-child relationship. I know how to detect the subtleties in communication and relationships among parents and their children, and intervene to help families make the shift out of distressing patterns of interaction to more healthy ones. I also know how to help parents become more intentional in their parenting and help children build important skills.
I have a great passion for and knowledge of different philosophies of early childhood education, such as Montessori and Reggio-Emilia-inspired approaches. I am fascinated by how people grow and develop, and share this passion with my clients. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, spending time outdoors, and playing with my kids.
